Hi, I’m Josie! I’m from Nottingham in the UK, but have been living in Nagoya, Japan since October 2011. I work at an English conversation school, teaching children from the ages of 2 – 17. When I’m not doing that, I enjoy playing video games, watching TV, and I collect postcards and occasionally do a bit of casual Geocaching.
However, my main love, as the theme of this blog suggests, is Japanese theater. I’ve been going to stage plays in Japan right from when I arrived in 2011, but in the early days I was just going to see shows featuring one actor I was following at the time from his dramas. It was in 2015, when Tenimyu’s 3rd Season began that I really began to follow theater as a whole. I went along to the Seigaku vs Fudomine musical to accompany a friend, and from there I was hooked. Since then, I’ve spent the majority of my weekends seeing shows or going to actor’s events.
Franchise-wise, amongst my favourites are Rice on Stage, Tenimyu and TouMyu, but I also watch a lot of smaller non-2.5d stages. My favourite stage actors are Emoto Koki, Maekawa Yuki, Kawakami Shota, Seto Keita and Yasui Kazuma.
I hope to use this blog to talk about the stages and actors I love, and to help other fans out with things that can be difficult about being in the fandom. Regarding the blog name, although not at first glance theater related at all, Rice and Comet is the name of a song from the first Rice on Stage, my number one favourite franchise.
